Iranian female football players staged an impressive performance in their first match at AFC Women's Futsal Championship 2015 which is being held in Malaysian town of Nilai near Kuala Lumpur.
Held in Nilai Indoor Stadium, the match kicked off at 7 pm local time after the opening game of the tournament between the hosts and Uzbekistan which ended with Malaysians' 9-4 victory.
Iran’s Sara Shirbeigi starred in the match scoring four goals at 24, 29 (Penalty), 34, and 35. Fahimeh Zarei (5) and Fereshteh Karimi (32) were the other Iranian scorers in the game.
The event was officiated by the Vietnamese referee Truong Quoc Dung. On Tuesday, Iranian players will line up against Uzbekistan who lost the first fixture in the tournament.
Eight teams from Iran, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and China are classed in two groups and the top and runner-up of each group will get to semi-final to play on September 25 before the final day of the event on September 26.
The tournament is set to be concluded on September 26 after all 16 encounters are held.
